Your free initial consultation is so I can get to know more about you, what you are looking to achieve and your motivations for getting fitter and healthier. It is also an opportunity for you to find out more about me, ask questions and decide whether you want to use me to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

I will ask details about your lifestyle, medical history, current and previous activity levels, as well as finding out about what you are looking to achieve and why.  If you decide you want to work with me I use this information to ensure I can plan a training sessions and a programme that is tailored to you and your goals, safe for you to do and ensures we can track your progress.  I can also advise on healthy eating to help you achieve your goals.

All sessions are tailored to your needs, so what we will do will depend on your goals, what you want to get from your training and your current fitness. The bulk of your session will target improving agreed aspects of your fitness such as strength, endurance, cardio-vascular fitness etc. However, all sessions will include a warm up, cool down, an explanation of the activities and exercises you’ll be doing including coaching you to ensure you are doing the exercises safely and with good technique and the benefits to you. Sessions are usually an hour, but are flexible to you needs.

I can train you in a spare room, conservatory, or in your living room. Surprisingly you don’t need a lot of space to be able to perform a broad range of exercises. To give you an idea of the space needed, I do my own training in a spare bedroom that is about 8ft x 7ft.

I bring everything that is needed for your personal training session. If you want to do additional training outside of our sessions you can do this without a lot of expensive specialist equipment. I can provide advice on exercises you can with improvised equipment or on what you need if you are thinking of buying some equipment.

I make use of various areas of open space. This could be a park, woodland, pitches or other areas of open space, or your garden. If you want to workout outdoors, we can discuss option near to you during our initial consultation. I’ll check the area out and I put together a session making use of the terrain, steps, benches etc and some basic equipment.

I’m based in Meltham, south of Huddersfield  so can easily come to you in south Kirklees and Calderdale and pop over the hills into the eastern parts of Tameside and Oldham.

Many people put off starting to exercise as they don’t think they are fit enough, or are not comfortable with the idea being seen in a gym.  However, if you are inactive there are many benefits of starting to physically active and you will soon start to notice improvements to your health, fitness and appearance.  During your initial consultation we will discuss your activity levels and medical details to understand whether you can start training with me straight away or whether you should see your doctor to get clearance to start being more physically active. I will then plan training sessions and a programme of activity appropriate to you and which will help you to gradually become fitter and healthier.

Regular physical activity can be beneficial in reducing the risk and impact of many long term medical conditions and improving your quality of life. This includes: type II diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, arthritus, anxiety and depression. I am qualified to work with people with a range of medical conditions so contact me to discuss how I may be able to help you, and whether I need to you should get clearance from your doctor before starting to become more active.

There is good evidence to show that staying active during pregnancy can be very beneficial and help mum’s-to-be to have a healthy pregnancy and birth, as well as helping you get back into shape after giving birth. I can help you adapt your exercise regime during your pregnancy and post-natal period to ensure you can safely continue to be physically active.

Signing up for a challenge event is a great way to keep you motivated towards improving your health and fitness. No matter what level you’ve set your challenge at, I can help you train for an upcoming challenge.  I will work with you to understand the physical demands of your challenge and what you are looking achieve. Then, depending I’ll design your training plan and sessions to get you ready for completing your challenge.

Whether you want to be stronger, quicker, or increase your endurance to improve your performance I will work with you to understand the physical demands of your sport, your current fitness and potential areas for improvement.  Then, depending on your requirements I’ll design training sessions and a training plan to improve the physical side of your performance.
Sorry, but at the moment I don’t work out of any gyms. I specialise in training people at home or in the outdoors, and working with those that don’t like or don’t feel comfortable attending a gym.
